How to Make an Album Cover Online in a Few Minutes

An album cover has more room to work with than a playlist cover, it's the one piece of art tied permanently to a specific body of work, but the process of actually making one online doesn't need to be complicated.

Start from the mood, not the layout

Before picking fonts or colors, decide what the album feels like in one or two words. That decision drives everything else, the image you choose, the color of the title, how much empty space you leave around it.

Pick one image and commit

Album covers that try to combine three or four images usually read as busy at streaming-platform thumbnail size. One strong image, yours or one from a built-in library, does more work than a collage.

Album title over artist name, or the reverse

Convention varies, but the two most common layouts are: album title large and centered with the artist name small underneath, or artist name large at the top with the album title smaller below it. Either works, pick one and keep the title, whichever it is, clearly the dominant text on the cover.
