When to Use a Custom Size Instead of a Preset

Most covers fit one of the standard presets, a square, a Story, a YouTube thumbnail. But sometimes a platform, a print piece, or an existing brand asset calls for an exact pixel size that no preset matches, and that's what Custom is for.

When a preset isn't the right call

• A platform not in the list yet, a Discord server banner or a Twitch panel image
• Print materials with their own exact spec, like a business card or a flyer with bleed
• Matching the exact dimensions of an existing brand asset someone already sent you

How custom sizing works in Bolicover

Type the exact width and height in pixels and the canvas resizes to match precisely, rather than exporting a standard size and hoping a platform's own cropping lands somewhere close enough.

One tradeoff to know

A layout positioned for one custom size doesn't automatically adapt if you change the dimensions later. Treat a significant size change as a fresh composition rather than a resize, the same way switching from a square cover to a Story isn't just a crop.

Custom sizing is a Pro feature, same as every other non-square format, the square cover stays free for anyone.
